CARSON CITY — Two Justices on Monday joined the Nevada Supreme Court and a new Chief Justice has become the administrative leader of the Nevada Judiciary. Justice Abbi Silver and Justice Elissa F. Cadish were sworn in as Justices during an inaugural ceremony this morning in Carson City.

DOL RESCINDS TIP GUIDANCE: DOL on Thursday rescinded Obama-era guidance that said tipped employees who are paid less than minimum wage must spend most of their time performing tipped-wage duties. The guidance, referred to as the 80/20 rule, required that the tipped employees spend 80 percent of their time performing tipped-wage duties such as waiting tables, as opposed to folding napkins or washing dishes.

Or, competition bought out off the market. They probably have patents for this, so now the new company has the patents and nobody else can make these things. This is what happens to innovative designs: the inventors have a good idea, but it takes years to monetize it and turn up a profit. Things get boring, business is risky, and everybody gets bored of making weedwhackers – they’re hackers, they want to do innovating instead of bean counting.

It’s a shame really – use what you want, buy a $100 computer with FreeDOS preinstalled or whatever. But generalisations like that never work. It’s like calling all Linux users ‘nerds’ because their OS has a selection of great shells by default.
