MORE ‘NOTICE TO APPEAR’: USCIS said Thursday it will continue to expand types of visa applications where officers may issue a “notice to appear” in cases where there’s evidence of fraud or criminal activity, or when someone is denied an immigration benefit and lacks legal status. Starting Nov. 19, USCIS may begin deportation proceedings based on denials of applications for T, U, U-1 and I-360 visas. The expansion will also include I-730 Refugee, Violence Against Women Act, and Special Immigrant Juvenile petitions and applications to register permanent residents or an adjustment of status.
