WEST HARTFORD — For the past couple of summers and into the fall season, a trip down New Britain Avenue in the Elmwood section of West Hartford was more colorful with many vibrant floral planters, 61 last year. Charlie Hilborn, owner of Sheehan Hilborn Breen Funeral Home hopes to see Elmwood Bloom again this year with even more planters.
The theme for this year’s soiree was clearly gilded glamour — stars and execs sat on emerald velvet couches while Hollywood regency decor turned the former cathedral into a dreamy, romantic scene. Even the photo booth was decked out — a 3D patterned background where a videographer captured footage to turn into a GIF. While there was plenty of seating (and space) inside the building, most guests gathered outside — it was so crowded on the patio that it took about 10 minutes to navigate through from one end of the courtyard to the other.
