POULTRY PROBLEMS, AGAIN: Democrats are again pressing USDA’s Food Safety Inspection Service on a new waiver policy that would raise line processing speeds at certain poultry plants, arguing that the agency failed to demonstrate that the policy is legal. In a letter provided to POLITICO, Rep. Rosa DeLauro (D-Conn.) and Sen. Patty Murray (D-Wash.) argue that a September Federal Register notice formally announcing the policy “attempts to defend [its] validity. . .but again fails to show that its criteria meet the minimum requirements of current regulations.” They also complain that FSIS failed to update them over the past 60 days on the status of waiver applications, as requested in a July 30 letter. In response to a request for comment, a FSIS spokesperson directed POLITICO to the September notice. Read the letter here.

Clear Lake-based One Vision recently received a three-year accreditation from Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities, or CARF, following a three-day onsite visit in October. The review included a look at programs, services, employment, policies and procedures. The evaluation highlighted One Vision’s "dedication, compassion, and enthusiasm for the services they provide," according to a release. One Vision, which provides personal and employment supports for individuals with disabilities in 30 Iowa communities, has been accredited by CARF since the 1980s.
