WEST HARTFORD — The Never Going Back to Abuse Project of CT-ALIVE will benefit from the proceeds of a clothing and book drive on Saturday, April 28, to mark April as Sexual Assault Awareness Month. In cooperation with Charities of Hope of Hartford, the Connecticut Alliance for Victims of Violence and Their Families, Inc. will hold the drive from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the parking lot of Price Rite Shopping Plaza, 983 New Britain Ave.

Grid computing makes sense especially when you don’t have high-speed communication connections between nodes – as is the case now. When you have cheap and very powerful computing resources that you can centralize into clusters with super high speed interconnects (Gigabit Ethernet and greater) you can spread the work load across many computers with minimal communication costs. When high speed communications (Gigabit Ethernet and faster) become common between geographically separated computers and bandwidth price rates drop to reasonable levels there is less of a need for “centralized grid computers”. High-speed communications will primarily encourage “distributed grid systems” not centralized ones. Low speed communications now encourages grid clusters.
